Two Years On, What Have we Learned from the Covid-19 Pandemic?

We are privileged to be welcoming three impressive and eminent speakers, Professor Sir Michael Marmot, Dr Jackie McRae and Rabbi Dr Charles Middleburgh.

Professor Sir Michael G. Marmot MBBS, MPH, PhD, FRCP, FFPHM, FMedSci, FBA
Director of the Institute of Health Equity (UCL Department of Epidemiology & Public Health). Among many other things Professor Marmot is the Advisor to the WHO Director-General, on social determinants of health, in the new WHO Division of Healthier Populations, and has been a public spokesperson reflecting on Public Health on radio and TV throughout the pandemic.

Rabbi Dr Charles Middleburgh
Dean and Director of Jewish Studies at Leo Baeck College. Among many other books he has published, Rabbi Middleburgh collected together and edited a book of Rabbinic Sermons given through the pandemic (including two that were delivered at EHRS). ‘Confronting Covid-19’ can be purchased by contacting Rabbi Debbie.

Dr Jackie McRae PhD
Associate Professor and Director of Research, Centre for Allied Health, St George’s University of London and Consultant Speech and Language Therapist, UCLH
Known to many at EHRS, Dr McRae is a Speech and Language Therapist, who in 2021 received a Giving Voice award by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) for her work promoting speech and language therapy for Covid-19 patients, following her clinical work as Lead Speech and Language Therapist at NHS Nightingale, London and University College Hospital, London for managing Covid-19 patients in intensive care. Her work has focused on the rehabilitation of speech and swallowing for those severely affected by covid. She is currently a researcher on the LISTEN project, developing treatments for those people experiencing long covid symptoms.
