Chametz collection service 2023 – London Borough of Barnet
A collection service will be in operation at houses on 300+ pre-designated roads, making it simple for residents to dispose of Chametz before Passover. Please click here for the leaflet that sets out the collection plans, which vary depending on the resident’s normal collection day and the road they live on.
If you want to donate unopened Chametz, we have a collection basket in the Synagogue foyer which we will donate to a local food bank.

Please see below the various services, seders and activities we have on offer this year.

Not welcome here - issues facing refugees arriving in the UK

Not welcome here – issues facing refugees arriving in the UK
Monday 3 April, 19:30 on Zoom

Events in the recent months have made it clear that the UK’s asylum system is in crisis. But what should the government be doing to fix this broken system?

This briefing will explore the reality behind the government’s often incendiary recent rhetoric, and provide an overview of the situation facing asylum seekers and refugees who reach this country.

We will also look at the UK policy context, and how this is impacting the lives of those fleeing persecution and conflict, including refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan. This will incorporate an update on the Nationality and Borders Act, which created a two-tier asylum system, and the ‘Rwanda Plan’.

Looking forward, it will consider what alternative steps the government should be taking, and how the Jewish community can push ministers to ensure refugees receive a warm welcome in this country.
