Doing Judaism: The Shulchan Aruch. If you ask the question ‘What do Jews do?’ you cannot really answer it by looking in the Torah Scroll. Judaism developed over millennia and we recorded that process of development in the Mishnah and Talmud. But to know what we actually do today, it’s the 16th-17th Century Shulchan Aruch code of Jewish law, created by Joseph Caro in Safed and revised by Moses Isserles in Cracow, that is the best guide.
