Stonegrove Serenade – Music for the Community

EHRS is delighted to present Stonegrove Serenade, a series of lunchtime concerts at EHRS. On every third Tuesday of the month, please join us for music featuring up and coming classical musicians.

Tuesday 15 March, 13:00
On this date we welcome two fantastic talented young musicians to perform on piano and cello, after a sell out performance at The Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room: Berniya Hamie on piano and Riya Hamie on cello

Berniya Hamie: Described as a musician of ‘real intelligence and richly communicative musicianship’ after a sold out solo recital at the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, Berniya Hamie was awarded a full scholarship to study piano at the Royal College of Music from September 2020. She has performed at prestigious venues including the Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Purcell Room and Royal Festival Hall; her concerto highlights include performances of Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Brighton Youth Orchestra as part of the 2018 Brighton Festival.

Riya Hamie: Cellist Riya Hamie was selected as one of eight LPO junior artists in 2020-2021, and was recently awarded the position of co-principal cello in the 2022 National Youth Orchestra. Most recently, she was the winner of the RCM Junior Department’s most prestigious competition. She has also won numerous first prizes at music festivals over the years including the Junior Concerto prizes at both the Hastings International Festival and Brighton Springboard Festival.

Concert Programme:
Chopin (arr. Feuermann/Navarra) – Introduction and Polonaise Brillante op.3
Vecsey – Valse triste
Popper – Elfentanz ~ Dvorak – Cello Concerto in B minor, op.104
