In each series of the TV Addicts Club, we meet fortnightly on a Thursday evening, to enjoy brand new and old classics of movies. Come along and meet people with the same enthusiasm, and relax in front of the box with delicious treats to enjoy whilst we watch. All are welcome! On this date, we will be watching ‘The Zookeeper’s Wife’
2017. Starring Jessica Chastain, Daniel Bruhl
The time is 1939 and the place is Poland, homeland of Antonina Zabinski and her husband, Dr. Jan Zabinski. The Warsaw Zoo flourishes under Jan’s stewardship and Antonina’s care. When their country is invaded by the Nazis, Jan and Antonina are forced to report to the Reich’s newly appointed chief zoologist, Lutz Heck. The Zabinskis covertly begin working with the Resistance and put into action plans to save the lives of hundreds from what has become the Warsaw Ghetto.
Based on a true story, The Zookeeper’s Wife is a compelling drama about the effort to rescue Jews from the Nazi Holocaust with an arresting narrative of heroism in the Second World War. A remarkable tale of courage and sacrifice in one of the darkest periods of history.
As this will be the last in this series of the TV Addicts Club, we will be offering at light buffet supper from 18:30, the film will start at 19:30.
