Stonegrove Players – an Adult Amateur Dramatics Group
Monthly on Mondays, 20:00

On this date we will be reading ‘Bazaar and Rummage’ by Sue Townsend.

Sue Townsend creates humour and pathos in equal measure in many of her plays and it is certainly apparent in this one.  This play first hit the stage 30 years ago, with an all-female cast of 6, and although some of the content is a little dated all the issues are still relevant. Set in a rather shabby Church Hall, ex-agoraphobic and volunteer social worker Gwenda, has organised a Rummage Sale, and has enlisted the help of trainee social worker Fliss and three of the members of her self-help group for agoraphobics.  The first Act deals with the setting up for the sale and we are introduced to the characters and how they interact with each other.  The second Act is after the sale when we discover that each of the characters has a story to tell which explains why they are as they are, and ends on a note of hope.

Join us for an informal play reading in a friendly and welcoming setting.
