Jewish Status at EHRS – Study session
Sunday 1 May, 11:30-12:30

Should we welcome all those with one Jewish parent who wish to be a part of their Jewish heritage whether that parent is their mother or father? How did Judaism come to follow a matrilineal principle and why didn’t they in Torah? How are Jewish status decisions taken in the 21st Century? What is the difference between inherited status and conversion?

Join Rabbi Mark to study the issues, as we are in the process of deciding as a community how and whether to take the next steps on our journey of inclusion and welcome. This is a repeat of the study session ‘A Time to Plant’ which was held in March 2022.

Best experienced in person at EHRS, but will also be viewable online. Please email junelewis@ehrs.uk for Zoom details.

No need to book for in person attendance.

There will be a Community Forum on Jewish Status on Sunday 15 May, 10:00-11:00. The forum will help to guide the EHRS Council in taking their decision on the issue.
