Bark Mitzvah Service
at EHRS in the Courtyard (Car Park)

Yes we really mean it – on the week when we enter the month of Ellul, traditionally the Jewish New Year for Animals, Rabbi Mark invites you to bring your pet to the Synagogue for us to celebrate the place of animals in our lives.

We enjoyed this special service last year and (almost all of) the dogs who came were impeccably behaved. Today we thank them with special prayers and blessings and the Torah portion of Eikev read from the point of view of the animals. You are of course welcome to come if you don’t have a pet or if yours is not transportable, just bring a photo. Wet weather plan… bring an umbrella!
