White Lies: In Rabbi Tanya Sakhnovich’s first week at EHRS she asks the question To lie or not to lie? It is sometimes a difficult dilemma each of us face in our life. Is there a way to tell the truth without hurting other people’s feelings or making enemies? We will look at a few texts from the time of Biblical Judaism and compare it to the opinion of Rabbinic Judaism: how do priests, prophets and rabbis wrestle with this moral dilemma for all of us?
