Akko – A city in Israel where Jews and Arabs live together
Tuesday 25 June, 20:00-21:30
EHRS is delighted to welcome Muhammad Fahili, Founder and Executive Director of the Sir Charles Clore Jewish-Arab Community Centre in Akko, Israel.
Established in a deprived neighbourhood in the city, since 1989 the Centre has offered a wide variety of programmes for Jewish and Arab children, adolescents, women, and new-immigrant seniors. Every year its summer camp brings Arab and Jewish children together to get to know each other as friends. The Centre has transformed the neighbourhood, and relations in the city, through a simple desire to break down mistrust, and build a more equal and respectful culture.
Come and join Rabbi Mark, who first visited the Jewish-Arab Centre 20 years ago, to hear Fahili’s vision, turned into reality for thousands of people, of what Israel could be.
